While AAA estimated 2.1 million Floridians hit the road for the Memorial Day weekend, gas prices did not drastically increase in the Sunshine State. The average gallon of gas in Florida cost $3.41 on Memorial Day, only a penny higher than at the start of last week. The national average stood at $3.58 a gallon on Monday. 'Florida gas prices dipped down to $3.38 per gallon last week, but rebounded a few pennies per gallon by the holiday weekend,' said Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA and the Auto Club Group.
